Polka Dot Frock

20110323-092328.jpg

When my MIL was here, she'd let the girls pick a new pattern each. MissB chose McCall M5554. I managed to cut it out while Grandma was here, and now the girls have a new doll dress.

  • I was wondering if you had any difficulty in making this jumper...I am having a hard time with the bodice and arm holes...
    Thanks

  • I didn't really have an issue, but facings can be fiddly. And, I've made this style jumper for my girls before.

What I did was to zigzag stitch to finish the outer edge of the facing. Place facing to dress, RST (Right Sides Together) and stitch. Before you turn it, trim the seam allowances to 1/8", and cut just into the seam allowances at the curves without cutting the seam, then turn and press. Then I topstitch to protect the seam and keep the facing from rolling out.
