The Eagle Has Landed

We arrived in CA the last day of March. It was rainy, as have been most days since. This is our second week in our new home and most of the house is together. There are plenty of boxes to go through still, but our basic needs are cared for. The girls even received their new mattress today and don't have to sleep on a pile of quilts anymore.

Aunt Sue is planning on visiting the last weekend of April. It'll be fun to see her and listen to *all* her opinions (I love you, Sue, you know I do). I need to plan a visit to SoCal to see family and friends this summer. My dear friend, Cyndi, is moving back home at the end of summer, so I'll have to plan another visit in the fall or winter.. if I'm not too heavy with child at the time. -No, that's not news, just an assumption.-

Our back step currently houses all the rain boots. The children can come and go that way as they choose and leave the wet out. The pool was fenced the day we moved in and I have no real fear of them getting inside (anything is possible, but why live in fear?). We've begun a kitchen garden in pots on the side yard. I like checking the plants and seeing how much bigger they are every few days. Bea planted some dandelion seeds, so I'll have to pluck those and stick them in the salad as they mature, too!

T.J. and I have begun school sporadically. I would like to get his computer set up and get a schedule printed (I know I could write it out, but it's actually easier and less waste on the 'puter). There are so many hours in a day and I still wonder where they all go.

I've been considering bedding at the sun.. I tried this last year and it worked well with the children. As the sun goes down, don't turn on any lights not needed and let the atmosphere quiet with the sun. I use the bathroom light for teeth brushing, etc, and let the children dress for and go to bed in the dusk light. It's nice because then I'm not overstimulated by all the lights and can also get to bed early enough to get a good night's sleep.

Bonus: when Ben gets enough sleep, he doesn't snore. I think snoring is a by-product of lack of sleep. When one goes to bed late and wakes to an alarm, one snores (if genetically predisposed) - when one gets the body's requirements of sleep, then one does not snore (unless there is a real medical reason).
So, let your man sleep in!
