Knitting Advent, or not

To take a little break from bra sewing, and hopefully let things sink in a bit and mellow to be fresh for the next one, I decided to do some Christmas knitting. I joined a group on Ravelry that lets me know when a knit-along (KAL) is going to happen. Then, for a Christmas gift to the designers, I thought I’d join a bunch. I knew I probably wouldn’t be able to keep up with them all, but I didn’t think that I would finish so few!

There were shawls available. I think I started four of them. And socks, you know I knit socks!  I have a mitten nearly knitted, and a hat. I wanted to knit the cowls and I did start a scarf…

But, Hubs has a birthday right in the middle of this span of time. And instead of wanting the Christmas gift I had in line with the Advent knitting, he asked for a sweater. And not just any sweater, an intarsia sweater. Which may be done in time for his birthday next year. Mind you, I got a good start on it, the back is knitted. But, I can be a little focused and I could see my schedule just disintegrating, and then the snowman was made and then I made five more snowmen…

First up, the gnome. I had one gnome. My neighbor gave him to me last year. She and her daughter made some and that was a gift that now has a place in my home. When the gnome mystery knit-along (MKAL) came up, I thought it would be fun and maybe I would make one. I started a “WUG” which is a gnome knitted while waiting for the pattern to come out. But, he didn’t get finished until after Christmas!

Then, it turned out this year the gnome had a snowman friend, and I have long been a fan of snowmen… and somehow this happened:

There are two more snowmen that I made as stocking stuffers for my littlest two

… And, now it’s almost the New Year! I’ll need to make a plan to get this done, especially the sweater. But, also the quilt I started in October, and the new ideas I’ve had on getting a fitting bra. I hope your 2023 went well, and that 2024 opens new ideas and horizons!
