Crocheting a Dragon

In the yarn shop, my littlest girl asked me to make her a dragon. I was surprised, she hadn’t made this suggestion at home or asked for one other places. She’s really into unicorns. But, when she asked me in the yarn shop a second time a few months later, I agreed. She had found this sparkly yarn with 2% poly glittery thread running through. We brought it home, found some colors to go with it, and I can only hope I have enough of the pink to join all the motifs for the Smaug pattern!

I’m using the fuchsia pink for the toes of the Better Half sock pattern, but I’ll need to make some wings, too! I’m planning the scales to be in the purple.

Summer Sock Yarns

I happened across a video about a summer socks knit-along (KAL), and the yarns they were so lovely. I received these two and hope to get some lovely socks out of them this year.

Visited Washington, mini yarn crawl

Washington in June was lovely: rainy, sunny, comfortable. We went on the Canal on kayaks and pedal boats, hiked the hills, saw a baseball game, and just had a blast. I decided to shop for local yarns, if possible.

On the way back from the Canal, we drove through Allyn. There’s a lovely shop there called Allyn Knit Shop & Spinning Supply. They have a local spinner making a product called Kalispell Sock. My littlest, MissE, chose a light pink yarn, as usual, a future pompon, and a hat kit (which isn’t in the photo), and I picked a blue hank, called Beau, and also decided to try Sockotta because I like the twill look. Blue for the lakes and rivers we’d driven past, and green for the lush vegetation and trees.

Before crossing the bridge returning to the Tacoma area, we stopped by Gig Harbor and purchased some yarns from Rainy Day Yarns. I picked two of their sock yarns, Tough Enough 2 Sock in Just For Him colorway, and Thunder Sock in The Forbidden Forest colorway. I picked a mini hank to match each, the first reminded me of the canal in the rain, and the latter of the forest hikes. I also picked up a Malabrigo Metamorphosis Sock in the Starry Night colorway because it intrigues me.

On the way East, we stopped in Ellensburg at Yarnfolk. They had available some lovely Earl Grey Fiber’s Darjeeling Sock in I’ll Be Fine (about  close to the shade Navy), and Royal Velvet colorway from Apple Fiber Studio.

Looks like I have some knitting to do!
